Tjou-Tjou is a result of the creative stew brewing in the head of South African designer, Henriette Rademan.

Her designs are inspired by the Afrikaans folk song, "Jan Pierewiet." "Jan Pierewiet" is also the local name for the "bokmakierie shrike," a bird found in South Africa.

Henriette grew up with her father whistling the song all the time. Once you start to sing Jan Pierewiet, the catchy tune goes around and around in your head, "Jan Pierewiet, Jan Pierewiet, staan stil…
