Tjou-Tjou is a result of the creative stew brewing in the head of South African designer, Henriette Rademan.
Her wallpaper designs are inspired by a wonderful Afrikaans folk song, "Jan Pierewiet." Jan Pierewiet is the name of a South African Afrikaans folk song as well as the local name for the "bokmakierie shrike," a bird found in South Africa.
Henriette grew up with her father whistling the song all the time. Once you start to sing Jan Pierewiet, the catchy tune goes around and around in your head, "Jan Pierewiet, Jan Pierewiet, staan stil…
